April 1st Duty Crew

  • Running code-the list from Chief includes the following times you should run code: structure fires, natural cover fires while under red flag warnings, mutual aid natural cover fires, natural cover fires with structures in danger, and the list from Kerns includes the following times you should run code: heart attacks, strokes, difficulty breathing, anything dealing with minors, and any life-threatening injury calls.
  • Natural Cover Fire season-the following equipment is available on the brush truck: two blowers, two rakes, water tank and pump, chainsaw and chaps, drip torch, axe, water can, a med kit, and a flashlight. Review NCF guidelines. (Will be linked here soon). NCF include grass fires, woods on fire, and any other natural vegetation. Wear proper personal protective equipment (ppe), which includes the following: brush coat, brush pants, boots, leather gloves, hard hat, and safety glasses.
  • Brush 1471 will be back up and going soon. A HUGE THANK YOU to Eldridge Fire Department, which donated a motor to our department and 1403 and 1405 will be putting the motor into 1471. Brush 1471 will be housed at the Stoutland station when it is returned to service.
  • 1470 will still go to the racetrack and handle public events so a nicer looking truck is used.
  • Radios-listen and acknowledge so you won’t continue responding if cancelled and you can answer if you are being addressed.
  • Communications page-acknowledge comments using thumbs up and to increase awareness of possible mutual aid calls.
  • Alarm response list-See NEW response list.
  • Refuel, refill, wash trucks and equipment after every call if needed.
  • Firefighters should not be offering mutual aid; that is the Chief’s job.
  • Gear drills!
  • EMRs took part in an assessment based on a real call.
