Let’s start out this duty crew post with a big CONGRATULATIONS to Jeffrey Elder, who was promoted to Lieutenant (new DSN 1406) after serving the departments as a firefighter and then Senior Firefighter! Jeff really stepped up his response numbers for the districts, began working on his professionalism, and is pursuing his certifications!
Congratulations to Brandon and Jeff for completing the first in a long line of certifications: the FEMA IS-100.c!
Only one dark spot to cover and then back to the good stuff. Chief is tired of people signing up for external training classes and then being no call/no shows for classes. Write ups will now be issued to anyone who signs up for classes and no call/no shows.
Chief is working with Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District to secure new search and rescue training in their fire training tower! Stay tuned for details.
The Stoutland Picnic is on August 26th. Heather is spearheading the effort for the dunking booth. The booth will need to be repainted before then. Thank you to TII, Marie, Jeff, Brandon, and Colin for volunteering to help.
The Elk’s Lodge Truck & Tractor Pull is September 16th at 5 pm. Crews are needed for 1453 (or 1452 if it’s back in service) and 1481 for the medical area. Let Ike know if you want to help.
The July t shirt order was placed and they should be in by next duty crew, along with the pink t shirts for October. The next t shirt order will be placed on August 31st. See Sam to place your order.
The preconnect was relaid on 1453 and it was washed. Thank you to Deputy Chief Burgess, Assistant Chief Tony Reeder, Captain John Jutras, and Firefighters Heather Vaughn, Marie Reeder, and Tony Reeder II! The trash line was relaid on 1452 and its batteries were changed. 1452 also got a new rectifier and was successfully started! Thank you to Lieutenants Turner and Elder for their assistance on 1452!
A message from Chief Vaughn:
Thank you to Marion, John, and Heather for taking care of the response for the race track. Thank you to Tony for taking care of medical training. Thank you to Jack for keeping the trucks and equipment running. Thank you to Brandon and Jeff for their help teaching the newer Firefighters. Thank you to Tony II and Marie for increasing their availability and willingness to not only run calls but to help out on other department events, training, functions, etc. Thank you to Sam for operating our Facebook and website, as well as initiating the Puppy Training Program for up and coming Firefighters. Also, thank you to Sam for coming in via Camden County Emergency Management Agency to teach IS-100 in seat to our Firefighters.
