Good morning, all!
Sam here!
With only 80 homeowners out of 750 for Stoutland having paid their dues since our fiscal year began on July 1, 2024, our small department is struggling. The dues for one property (address) are $60/year, with just an additional $30/year for each additional property (address).
Check out the numbers if every resident paid for one property (address):
750 x $60=$45,000
VERSUS what we are actually running on:
80 x $60=$4800
$4800 is NOT enough to keep your fire department up and running! With monthly bills for the station, insurance once a year, outdated equipment (both trucks and gear), fuel costs, and MORE, we need our residents paying their dues!
Our board president, board members, firefighters, and fire chief (who is unpaid and completely volunteer) have been paying these bills out of their own pockets for years! It is entirely unnecessary when all we need is for our homeowners to pay their dues to vastly improve the operations of this completely volunteer department!
Now, as an additional attempt to raise money for our department, we have calendars on order at $30/each. After the production cost, this gives about $10/calendar to the department. This calendar includes photos of the firefighters and equipment which protect our district. The photos are from calls, events, training, duty crews, and more!
Previous calendar blog post.
You will soon be able to purchase the calendars in person at the City of Stoutland City Hall which is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 am to noon. Alternately, you can drop by our duty crews at the Stoutland station on the first or third Saturday of each month from 8 am to noon. We are also working on offering an online purchasing option for the calendar.
