Many people don’t understand just how many calls our small departments run.
We are not taxed-based; we are dues-based. What this means is that we rely on the residents of our districts to pay their dues in order to help keep our departments running.
Our firefighters, officers, and EVEN OUR CHIEF are completely unpaid. They are 100% volunteer.
We have a small amount of money we receive from CDT (County Department Tax).
We also rely on fundraisers and other methods of gaining a small amount of donations just to keep the trucks on the road, pay the insurance, and maintain the stations.
We struggle with getting gear, as the cost of turnouts runs approximately $18,000 per set. (see newscast here)
But we keep answering the call. We are there for YOU.
